I made a helpful little list, last night, of  videos worth watching on Amazon Prime:

  • Arrival (2016)
  • Predestination (2015)
  • Doctor Thorne (ITV miniseries)
  • Man in the High Castle (two seasons)
  • If I Were You (2013)
  • Clear History (2013)
  • Hello, My Name Is Doris (2016)
  • Mozart in the Jungle (three seasons)

I looked at this list of favorites and noticed that Predestination was the one on the list I had seen least recently. On a whim, I began watching this terrific fleshing out of Robert A. Heinlein’s short story, “All You Zombies.”

Meanwhile, of course, my iPad was by my side, charging. And, I think, updating the iOS. Which may explain why, 45 minutes into the movie, when the hero says, “He deserves to to die,” Siri woke up and saluted me.

“Hey there,” she said.

“Hey, yourself, Siri.”

I should have carried on a conversation with her. But I wasn’t really in the mood for a Turing Test.

Wrong movie.
